Case study: Quakertown Community School District – Neidig Elementary School

The Quakertown Community School District retained D’Huy Engineering Inc. (DEI) to provide design and construction management services for its addition and renovations projects to Neidig Elementary School in 2018. The existing 50,000 SF building was scheduled to be renovated and expanded to 90,000 SF to accommodate 600 students and achieve architectural parody with the District’s other facilities. DEI and the Owner team established the criteria for success by reviewing the systems and spaces to arrive at the desired arrangement and design details. Then, DEI worked hard to create clear and concise bid documents, and maximize bid competition during an extremelybusyconstructionmarket. Theresultwasbidsthatcameinmorethan$2Mbelowthe estimates and enabled the inclusion of all desired value-added design alternates and contingencies for the project.

DEI’s efforts and ability to work with the design team resulted in project savings equal to our CM fee for the Quakertown School District project.
