New Garden Elementary School
The Need and Request:
1. The building systems and infrastructure are nearing the end of their useful life and need to be replaced and upgraded to keep the school safe, comfortable and meet educational and community needs. 2.The District and project will not receive reimbursement through PlanCon since it is in moratorium and this adds additional financial burden to the District. 3. The current economic conditions have taken a heavy toll on the school construction market. Costs for building materials are being driven up by supply chain issues, shortages, as well as fuel and shipping costs. Labor shortages are also driving up construction costs and lengthening construction schedules. These factors when coupled with rising interest rates driving up financing costs creates an exponential effect on districts seeking to improve their facilities. 4. There are no other sources for funding support or grants to help offset costs. 5. School buildings, more than any other civic facilities are the heart of any community. The School District sees high levels of community engagement through year round use of their facilities for various programs. An investment in local schools is a direct investment into the local community and to all of its residents.
The request for funding support is focused on a portion of hard construction costs only.
